Winter Storm Warning in Northwest Washington
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in Northwest Washington.
Heavy snow is expected or occurring in the forecast area. Total snow accumulation of up to 20 inches are expected. The fastest accumulation could be late tonight and early Tuesday morning, with a foot of new snow falling in 12 hours.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Winter driving conditions can be expected. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. The hazardous conditions could impact commutes through the entire warning period. Power lines could be impacted by the persistent moderate to heavy snowfall rates.
The alert area covers Cascade mountains and valleys of Snohomish and King Counties, including Stevens Pass and Snoqualmie Pass; and Cascade mountains and valleys of Pierce and Lewis Counties, including the Crystal Mountain Ski Area and Paradise on Mount Rainier.
The warning remains in effect until noon Tuesday, 3/12/2019.
