Snow Storm (Blizzard) Advisory for State of Illinois, Chicago
At least 500 flights out of Chicago-area airports have been canceled so far Sunday amid a mid-April snow. As of around 2:15 p.m., 473 flights out of O'Hare International Airport had been canceled and 44 out of Midway, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation. The surprise late-season storm dropped temperatures to around 32 degrees Sunday and blanketed the area in 2-4 inches of snow. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook around 1:30 p.m., warning of limited thunderstorms through the early afternoon and continued elevated snow and lakeshore flood risks. Light to moderate snow is expected to continue through Sunday afternoon, with heavier pockets in the west and northwest.
