Flying plane evacuated - San Jose, CA
SAN JOSE, CA — A San Jose-bound airplane at the John Wayne Airport in Orange County was evacuated Monday due to a fire, according to airport officials.
Passengers and crew escaped down evacuation chutes after a fire was reported on board the plane.
Around 8 p.m., airport officials said on Twitter that a fire was reported on Southwest Airlines flight 2123, an outbound flight departing for San Jose. The fire was believed to be in the auxiliary power unit, airport
The plane's escape chutes were deployed and the five crew members on board the flight evacuated 139 passengers from the plane.
A few people suffered minor injuries, but no one was transported to a hospital, airport officials said.
Airport officials said the fire was extinguished, but they did not say what caused it.
