UPDATE 10: The fire is now 95% contained.

UPDATE 9: The Bear Fire has burned nearly 400 acres and is now 85% contained. All evacuation orders are now lifted

UPDATE 8: Evacuation orders for the areas near the Bear fire are lifted, as the fire crews continue to gain ground.

UPDATE 7: The Bear Fire has burned nearly 400 acres and is now 79% contained. Four structures were destroyed.

UPDATE 6: The Bear Fire has burned nearly 400 acres and is now 75% contained.

UPDATE 5: Nine people were injured since the fire started. The rain and the cool weather helped the fire crew battling the 320 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Bear fire is now 50% contained .

UPDATE 4: The Bear Fire near Boulder Creek has burned 300 acres and is only 30% contained. For now, the fire destroyed 4 structures and over 250 structures are threatened. Seven people were injured.

UPDATE 3: Evacuation orders are in place for next areas: Deer Creek, Rons Road, Dons Road, Lost Valley Road, Favre Ridge, Oak Ridge as well as Las Cumbres.

UPDATE: The fire has spread to 271 acres and is now 5% contained.

UPDATE: An evacuation center has been opened at Boulder Creek Elementary school.

A new wildfire started in the Santa Cruz Mountains and already injured five persons. It rapidly spread to 125 acres and is threatening over 100 homes.

An evacuation order was issued for the area of Boulder Creek.

The blaze on Bear Creek Canyon Road started as a house fire that spread rapidly to nearby vegetation.
