Canadian Police Warns of 'Emergency Scam’

The Police informs it involves someone usually impersonating a family member or friend, claiming they’re in an emergency and need cash to get themselves out of it.

In the most recent case, police say the scammer claimed they were in a car crash and arrested for impaired driving, requesting $2,500 to be released from jail.

The OPP warns the signs you might be a potential victim of the scam include urgency, fear, a request for money and especially secrecy.
